And we’re back!
It’s been 103 days since we were last open to the public, but we’ve not been sitting idle all that time!
Our Collections Manager Phil has been busy reworking some exhibitions, taking items out of storage and redesigning some of the rooms, which in turn has kept our clever Custodian Chris busy building new display cabinets! Regular visitors should notice a difference, especially in the First World War room.
We’ve also been busy planning our exciting events programme for the year. Look out for events to commemorate the 75th anniversaries of VE Day and VJ Day and the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. There are also re-enactment weekends, film screenings, ghost hunts, and themed activities during the school holidays, starting this February half-term with Evacuee Week.
Come to the Fort and you can dress up as a WW2 evacuee, make your own evacuee tag, gas mask and box and follow the themed quiz trail!
The gift shop has some new items for sale and the vintage tea room has had a lick of paint. Both will be open from Saturday 15th February, along with the rest of the Fort.
We look forward to seeing you in 2020!
