Become a Volunteer

With over 30,000 visitors a year, including several thousand children on school visits, and a full programme of special events ranging from open-air theatre and military vehicle rallies to ghost walks and art workshops, the award-winning Newhaven Fort is a thriving attraction with so much to offer.

Thankfully, Newhaven Fort is no longer the regimented place it once was, and we want our volunteers to take on projects that they will find both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Volunteers bring invaluable skills and experience to any project.  In turn, we hope that volunteers will gain experience that enhances training and work opportunities, develop their knowledge and potential and increase their self-esteem.

Volunteers perform essential, supportive and complimentary tasks to those undertaken by employees.  Lewes District Council values its volunteers because the users of the services, staff and volunteers, all benefit from their input.
