Happy Halloween at Newhaven Fort

Dust off your broomsticks and iron your wizard capes, because Newhaven Fort is getting ready for toads, spooky Punch & Judy, make-your-own spiders and witches’ brew this Halloween.

Starting on Monday 22nd October and running until Monday 29th October, Newhaven Fort has so much to offer this half term. There are questions to answer and riddles to solve in the spine chilling depths of the Fort tunnels, with a themed quiz trail, running daily.

For true Halloween fun, there will be a make-your-own spooky spider workshop on Wednesday 24th at 11:30, 13:30 and 15:00. The workshops need to be pre-booked, so please contact Newhaven Fort on 01273 517622 to reserve a place.

On Thursday 25th, there will be two special Halloween performances of the traditional Punch & Judy puppet show. Performances are scheduled for 13:30 & 15:00 and will include the appearance of a spider, ghost, devil, witch and skeleton, whilst retaining the essence of a traditional Punch and Judy show.

For the really brave among you, Zoolab will be coming to Newhaven Fort on Friday 26th to show pre-booked visitors a real snake, scorpion, tarantula, giant millipede, toad, and some cockroaches! Session times are 13:30 and 15:30 (please call to reserve a place).

Family tickets are £16.50 for 2 adults and up to 3 children. Otherwise prices are £5.75 for adults (£4.65 concessions) and £3.70 for children (children must be accompanied by an adult) and the Fort is open from 10:30am to 5pm daily.

Whilst there, and assuming the children aren’t developing their ghost hunting skills, brushing up on their history, or playing in the adventure playground for the under 12’s, why not enjoy a well earned refreshment in the Searchlight Café – where you’ll find a full range of wholesome snacks or even a special spooky witches’ brew… if you dare!

Notes to Editor:

Newhaven Fort is an award-winning visitor attraction, open to the public from March to October. The fort is owned and operated by Lewes District Council and offers visitors the opportunity to experience a day out with a difference, as they step into wartime Britain and follow in the footsteps of people who lived through the first and second World Wars. The massive walls, ramparts, tunnels and gun emplacements all fire the imagination, and the clifftop location offers stunning, far-reaching views across Seaford Bay, Newhaven Port and the English Channel.
