Summer Fun at Newhaven Fort
It’s a little known fact that Newhaven Fort is part of Sussex Police’s training schedule. Indeed, highly trained and specialist recruits often visit the Fort to re-enforce their skills. On Sunday 4th June, Newhaven Fort will host the Explosive Search Dog Unit as part of its Newhaven Fort Summer Fun Day to highlight the capabilities of the sniffer dogs in a unique display.
Newhaven Fort Summer Fun Day is an opportunity for the public to find out more about the exhibits and displays found within the Fort. The Royal Observer Corps will be on-site to give a talk about the history and duties of the Corps during WWII. Staff in charge of the Sussex and Surrey Yeomanry will also be present to talk to the public, and the Worthing & District Radio Club will offer visitors an insight into the world of radio communication.
On Saturday 10th June, The Royal Navy Presentation Team will be attending Newhaven Fort to present the role of today’s modern Navy. Using a multi-media presentation, the group encourage a lively debate and ensure an informative, thought-provoking and entertaining couple of hours.
On the 4th June, the Sussex Explosive Search Dog Unit Demonstration will be held around 13.00-13.30, the Royal Observer Corps Talk will be from 15.00-16.00 and the Royal Navy Presentation on the 10th June will start at 11:30am.
