Easter Family Fun at Newhaven Fort

A rabbit prop for the Easter Trail, before it gets hidden in Newhaven Fort

Come to Newhaven Fort this Easter and enjoy the brand new Easter Rabbit Trail. Some famous rabbits hold the answers to clues on the free quiz sheets, although you may have to look hard amongst the hidden rabbit inhabitants. Once you’ve found all the rabbits, you can enter the Newhaven Fort Easter Prize Draw (which will take place at the end of the holiday).

On Good Friday (6th April) and Tuesday 11th April there will be a series of ‘Make Your Own Easter Chicks and Rabbits’ workshops. The start times are: 11:30hrs, 13:30hrs and 15:00hrs on each day. Please note that although places may be available on the day for the workshops, to guarantee a place please call 01273 517622 in advance. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

On Easter Sunday (8th April), The Cumberland Guard will return to the Fort as they re-enact the Royal Marines c.1860’s. The Cumberland Guard will be in period uniform and will perform displays of musket drills and firing at different times throughout the day.

Of course, all of this is in addition to the many fascinating, permanent displays and interesting things to do at Newhaven Fort and, don’t forget, the fantastic on-site café serving yummy lunches and naughty treats, plus the pocket-money-priced gift shop.

Opening times are 10.30am - 6pm (last entry 5pm). Tickets for Easter week at Newhaven Fort are priced at the normal entry fee and can be purchased on the door.

For further information on these, and other special events throughout the year, please contact Newhaven Fort direct on 01273 517622 or visit http://www.newhavenfort.org.uk/

Note to Editor:
Newhaven Fort is an award-winning visitor attraction, open to the public from March to October. The fort is owned and operated by Lewes District Council and offers visitors the opportunity to experience a day out with a difference, as they step into wartime Britain and follow in the footsteps of people who lived through the first and second World Wars. The massive walls, ramparts, tunnels and gun emplacements all fire the imagination, and the clifftop location offers stunning, far-reaching views across Seaford Bay, Newhaven Port and the English Channel.

Newhaven Fort is open daily from 10.30am until 6.00pm (or dusk, if earlier). http://www.newhavenfort.org.uk/
