A Celebration of Architecture at Newhaven Fort

Architecture Week is the national celebration of contemporary architecture. Now in its 11th year, Architecture Week has involved hundreds of organisations, and engaged thousands of people of all ages, and from all walks of life.

Newhaven Fort is participating again this year by offering tours of the counterscarp galleries, normally closed to the public. This is a rare opportunity to view the murals made by the Air Sea Rescue personnel stationed at the Fort during the Second World War.

Tours are being run on Friday 15th June at 2:30pm & Saturday 16th June at 12pm & 2pm. Tickets are priced at £4.65. Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance by calling 01273 517622. Please allow approximately 35-40 minutes for each tour.

Please note that there are many steps to manage, that it is dark and that torches will be used. Sensible clothing and foot wear must be worn (walking boots or similar) and participants must have good fitness.

If you have any further questions, or you would like to make a reservation, please contact Newhaven Fort direct on 01273 517622.

Notes to Editor:
Newhaven Fort is an award-winning visitor attraction, open to the public from March to October. The fort is owned and operated by Lewes District Council and offers visitors the opportunity to experience a day out with a difference, as they step into wartime Britain and follow in the footsteps of people who lived through the first and second World Wars. The massive walls, ramparts, tunnels and gun emplacements all fire the imagination, and the clifftop location offers stunning, far-reaching views across Seaford Bay, Newhaven Port and the English Channel.

Newhaven Fort is open daily from 10.30am until 6.00pm (or dusk, if earlier). http://www.newhavenfort.org.uk/
