A Summer Turkish Delight not to be missed
Nationally acclaimed theatre company Oddsocks Productions are bringing “The Comedy of Errors” to life this summer in their unique and inimitable style on Tuesday 21st August at Newhaven Fort.
This time, their unique wagon-stage will transform into the distant, mystical city of Ephesus, from where Shakespeare’s most farcical story; “The Comedy of Errors” will unfold.
A servant and master from far off Syracuse arrive in Ephesus in search of their long-lost twin brothers. In no time at all they are trapped in a terrifying chain of chaotic events. Tormented by a wild wife, a moody mistress, challenged by a crazy jeweller and damned by a demonic doctor the terrified twosome run headlong into a climactic happy ending which defies all probability.
This hilarious tale of misunderstandings and mistaken identity provides a perfect accompaniment to a summer’s evening picnic at Newhaven Fort from the company who brought “The Taming of The Shrew” and “Twelfth Night” so vividly to life in the 2006/7.
“The gloriously droll Oddsocks actors showed that Shakespearean comedy can be hilarious, even when working with textual deference. These multi-talented actors had the audience in the palm of their hand” (The Stage 2006).
“Tickets for their five nights’ performances of Twelfth Night are rarer than hens’ teeth. Nigh on two thousand souls will have laughed their way through their antics.” (Hexham Courant 2006).

Notes to Editor:
Newhaven Fort is an award-winning visitor attraction, open to the public from March to October. The fort is owned and operated by Lewes District Council and offers visitors the opportunity to experience a day out with a difference, as they step into wartime Britain and follow in the footsteps of people who lived through the first and second World Wars. The massive walls, ramparts, tunnels and gun emplacements all fire the imagination, and the clifftop location offers stunning, far-reaching views across Seaford Bay, Newhaven Port and the English Channel.
Newhaven Fort is open daily from 10.30am until 6.00pm (or dusk, if earlier). http://www.newhavenfort.org.uk/
