Newhaven Fort Festival of History 1st - 3rd May 2010
From Saturday 1st – Monday 3rd May Newhaven Fort will be hosting the annual ‘Festival of History’, offering a unique chance to experience the sights and sounds of times past.
Guests will be invited to take a walk through time and explore the historic site brought to life with displays, guided tours, encampments and demonstrations throughout the weekend.
Grymm Tooms World of Wonders Museum will be returning to the Fort on Saturday 1st May and Professor Leonidas C. Grymm will be delighting guests as he recounts incidents from his many travels around the World. Fascinating displays will be on show including medical marvels, strange artefacts and world curios.
Living Historians will also be in attendance, over the bank holiday weekend, including the Croix de Guerre (French Military 1913-1940) who will be displaying fascinating artefacts from the period and the Croix de Lorraine (French Civilian 1913-1940) who will be presenting authentic cooking displays.
Fahnlein Uri (Swiss Medieval Mercenaries), the 1914-21 Society (Eastern Front Display WWI), the Heilbronn Commando (Boer War) and the RAF Living History group will also be in attendance throughout the weekend.
In addition the Fort’s permanent exhibits and audio visual presentations will be open for guests to enjoy, along with the under 12’s outdoor adventure playground.
