Newhaven Fort Community Open Day

On Saturday 20th June Newhaven Fort and Newhaven Town Council will be hosting a very special open day and, in the spirit of community, will be offering FREE ENTRY into the fort for everyone!

The day is going to be packed full with fun and extraordinary things to do. The Swingtime Sweethearts - quarterfinalists on last year’s Britain’s Got Talent - will be creating a 1940s musical backdrop with their nostalgic singing, and are sure to set the right tone for the day.

A traditional Punch and Judy show will be delighting visitors with naughtiness and frolicks. Audience participation will be a must!  There are going to be guided tours of Newhaven Fort throughout the day, helping visitors to explore the site and uncover some of the stories surrounding its chequered history.

For those of you who prefer creative activities, why not join one of our children’s craft workshops making flowers out of recycled materials, or perhaps you’d prefer to have your face painted instead?

There will be stalls selling cakes and gifts, plus a community chef doing demonstrations. Sussex Air Ambulance & National Coastwatch will be in attendance as well as representatives from ‘Knit & Natter’, a free community group where people meet on a weekly basis to talk and knit.

The gates will open at 10:30am and close at 5pm and, of course, admission will be completely free! For further information please contact Newhaven Fort direct on 01273 517622 http://www.newhavenfort.org.uk/
