Newhaven Fort wins Sussex Express Business Award for Best Visitor Attraction
The first Sussex Express Business Awards were held on Friday 20th February to celebrate the achievements of local businesses across the district. Host for the evening was television presenter Fred Dineage and Newhaven Fort was nominated in the category of Best Visitor Attraction.
Up against stiff competition, Newhaven Fort scooped the award by demonstrating excellent customer service, accessibility and value for money. The award was accepted on behalf of Newhaven Fort by Mayor of Newhaven Councillor Graham Amy.
In 2008 Newhaven Fort also received a glowing assessment from the Visitor Attractions Quality Assurance Service, run by Visit Britain, retaining its Quality Assured Visitor Attraction status for the 9th year running.

Notes to Editor:
Newhaven Fort is an award-winning visitor attraction, open to the public from March to October. The Fort is owned and operated by Lewes District Council and offers visitors the opportunity to experience a day out with a difference, as they step into wartime Britain and follow in the footsteps of people who lived through the first and second World Wars. The massive walls, ramparts, tunnels and gun emplacements all fire the imagination, and the clifftop location offers stunning, far-reaching views across Seaford Bay, Newhaven Port and the English Channel.
Newhaven Fort is open daily from 10.30am until 6.00pm (last admission one hour before closing).
