Artwave 2008 comes to Newhaven Fort


Artwave August 23rd – September 7th 2008 

Artwave is an annual festival celebrating visual art throughout the Lewes District.  It truly is a creative jewel in the UK and Lewes District Council celebrates this wealth of talent by hosting the 15th annual visual arts festival Artwave.

Artwave 2008 looks set to burst with a true cornucopia of work from artists and makers based throughout the Lewes district, including Seafordand Newhaven areas!

Artwave is pleased to have three exhibitions running at Newhaven Fort this year so if you are visiting then there are extra creative treats in store! There is also a reduced entry fee of £3.70, on production of an Artwave or a Create brochure, applicable for 2 persons.

Create
An exhibition of “handmade not manufactured” work by 18 artists and makers, from paintings, sculpture and ceramics, to jewellery, textiles and contemporary furniture.
OPEN Daily throughout Artwave from11am-5pm.

The Fort and Hill Project
An exhibition of photos taken by adults with learning difficulties, set in the dramatic outdoor setting of Newhaven Fort. This exhibition celebrates this partnership and exemplifies their work within the local community to help improve their local environment.

Mantra
Janette Staton and Naomi Browne join forces to create ‘Mantra’ –Installations linking Mount Caburn and Newhaven Fort, inspired by ancient traditions of Tibetan prayer wheels, flags and Japanese Kanji. Mount Caburn is accessed via Glynde.
