Newhaven Fort retains Quality Accreditation

For the 9th year running Newhaven Fort has received another glowing assessment from the annual Visitor Attractions Quality Assurance Service run by the English Tourism Council.

The report praised the attraction stating “Newhaven Fort continues to offer a very good visitor experience” and “The overall standard of restoration and refurbishment, along with the access provided, gives the visitor a very good impression of the layout and design of the Fort”.

The Fort team was also commended and described as proactive, friendly and welcoming and it was also noted that “The visitor experience here has once again fully met the criteria of the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service at a very good standard”.

After being assessed by the Visitor Attractions Quality Assurance Service last year, the Fort staff used the assessor’s findings to inform changes and improve the overall experience for visitors.

Fort Manager Simon Cochran said “It is important not to lose sight of visitor needs and expectations and all staff here at the Fort continually strive to exceed them.  Their hard work and dedication have ensured that we have retained the VAQAS accreditation once again."

Note to Editor:

Newhaven Fort is an award-winning visitor attraction, open to the public from March to October. The fort offers visitors the opportunity to experience a day out with a difference, as they step into wartime Britain and follow in the footsteps of people who lived through the first and second World Wars. The massive walls, ramparts, tunnels and gun emplacements all fire the imagination, and the clifftop location offers stunning, far-reaching views across Seaford Bay, Newhaven Port and the English Channel.

Owned and operated by Lewes District Council, Newhaven Fort is open daily from 10.30am until 6.00pm (or dusk, if earlier). http://www.newhavenfort.org.uk/
